Why Visit
Perched atop a 27-meter artificial hill, Wat Phnom is the spiritual heart of Phnom Penh and the temple that gave the city its name. Built in 1373, this Buddhist sanctuary features elegant architecture, intricately decorated stupas, and serene gardens. The temple complex includes beautiful murals, a grand staircase guarded by mythical Naga serpents, and several shrines where locals come to pray for good fortune. Visitors can explore the peaceful grounds, observe traditional Buddhist ceremonies, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area. The site is particularly atmospheric at sunset when the golden light illuminates the main stupa. Entrance fee: Ticket of Wat Phnom is about $1, ticket of the museum is about $2.
